PURPOSE:To restrict heat dissipation from a combustion chamber by a method wherein heat reflecting surface is formed on the inner wall of a cylindrical section in the lower half of a cylinder head and a reverse cup-shape head liner, consisting of ceramics, is fitted to said cylindrical section so as to provide a space around the heat liner. CONSTITUTION:A cylinder liner 19, for engaging with a piston 4, is inserted into a cylinder block 3 and the cylinder head 2 is connected to the upper end wall 14 of the cylinder block. In this case, the cylindrical section 11 is formed on the lower half of the cylinder head 2 and the head liner 1, consisting of the reverse cup-shape ceramics, is inserted into the cylindrical section 11. An air layer or a space 20 is formed between the cylindrical section 11 of the cylinder head 2 and the head liner 1. A metal plating is applied to the peripheral wall and inner end wall 11a of the cylindrical section 11 to form a reflecting surface reflecting the radiation of heat. According to this method, the heat of the combustion chamber 15 is restricted from being dissipated to the outside of the head liner 1. |
