A sharpening strip (1) for a cylinder lawn mower is fitted with a groove shaped recess (7) designed to be pushed over the mower's lower blade (6) so that the strip is thereby retained by it. The strip includes a stiff section which carries a sharpening device (5). This device (5) is designed to face in the direction of the mower's blade cylinder (8), so that the cylinder's blades can be sharpened by the cylinder's rotation, when the cylinder and the lower blade are adjusted relative to each other so that the cylinder blades move across the sharpening surface on the sharpening device. This sharpening device is made up of a thin strip (5) of a grinding material on one side, forming the sharpening surface. The stiff section is arranged so as to leave at least the side of the lower blade (6), which faces the blade cylinder (8), mainly free, but to grip the lower blade from its opposite side with a gripping part (4). The section has in its fitted position, a surface situated outside the lower blade, which is placed facing the blade cylinder, whereby the sharpening device is fixed to the said surface outside the lower blade by an edge section, while the rest of the strip's sharpening device projects outside the said surface in a situation opposite to the section bar's gripping part (4). Thereby the groove shaped recess (7), whish is designed to enclose the lower blade (6), is contained between the section's said gripping part (4) and the part of the sharpening device (6) which sticks out over the fixed surface. The sharpening surface is thereby situated at a short distance, corresponding to the sharpening device's thickness, from the lower blade's edge, at the same time as the sharpening device flexibly adjusts itself to the edge's length and thereby offers the cylinder blades (8) an appropriate shape corresponding to this length during sharpening.<IMAGE> |
