PURPOSE:To maintain always stable electrical, optical and photoconductive characteristics by incorporating nitrogen into a photoreceptive layer constituted into a layer and incorporating a material for controlling conductivity into said layer in such a way that the max. value of the density distributed in the layer thickness direction exists in the region of the photoconductive layer constituted of an amorphous material. CONSTITUTION:A photoreceptive layer 102 provided with the 1st layer region 103 which is constituted of an amorphous material contg. Ge and the 2nd layer region 104 which is constituted of an amorphous material contg. Si and is photoconductive is provided on a base 101. The photoreceptive layer contains nitrogen atoms and is incorporated therein with a material for controlling conductivity in such a way that the max. value of the density distributed in the layer thickness direction exists in the 2nd layer region 104 in the photoreceptive layer. Said material is incorporated in said region 104 in such a way that the material is distributed more to the base 101 side. Si is preferably incorporated into the 1st layer region 103. The atoms of the III-group of periodic table and the atoms of the V-group of periodic table are used for the material for controlling conductivity. |
