<p>The carburetter (10) has a main outlet (16) into a heat ex-chamber (18) in which the mixture is heated by the exhaust gases. It flows from the heat exchanger into a suction manifold (22) which has an individual branch (24) to each cylinder. The carburetter has an auxiliary outlet (34) which is connected to an auxiliary manifold (40), and which has an outlet (42) into each individual cylinder branch (24) from the main manifold (22). The pipe (38) between the carburetter and the auxiliary manifold (40) has an electric eater (44) which is energised through a time relay (50). The relay de-energises the heater a fixed time after the engine starts. At low loads the entire carburetter output passes through the auxiliary suction manifold.</p> |
