PURPOSE:To enable to appropriately preheat when recording an image and contrive to reduce the capacity of a power source for recording and to alleviate a thermal load on a thermal head, by controlling the variation of the preheating temperature on the basis of each color of a thermal transfer ink film. CONSTITUTION:An output signal (a) from a temperature-detecting element for the thermal head is inputted into an A/D converting circuit 25 through a terminal 22, where it is converted into a digital signal (e), which is inputted into a ROM26. In addition to the digital signal (e), the ROM26 is inputted with an ink film color signal (b) through a terminal 23 and an AC power source frequency signal (c) through a terminal 24. An address in the ROM26 is designated by the signals (b), (c), (e), and data (f) corresponding to the designated address are inputted into a switching circuit 27. According to the value of the signal (f), the circuit 27 outputs a signal (d) through a terminal 28 by controlling the ON/OFF ratio of the signal (d), thereby controlling the ON/OFF ratio of a preheater (the ratio of a current-passing period to a current-nonpassing period for the preheater in one cycle of the AC power source). |
