[Also in Division G2] 2,2 - Dimethyl - 4 - isopropyl - 7 - t - butyl - 6- hydroxy-chroman is prepared by reacting (-butylhydroquinone with 2,5-dimethyl-2,4-hexadiene in the presence of ZnCl 2 and CH 3 COOH. The following 6-hydroxy-chromans are similarly prepared from the alkyl hydroquinone and a substituted diene: 2,2,4-trimethyl-7-t-butyl; 2,2-dimethyl - 7 - t - butyl; 2,2,4 - trimethyl - 7 - isopropyl; 2,2 - dimethyl - 4,7 - di - isopropyl; 2,2- dimethyl - 4 - isopropyl - 7 - t - octyl; and 2,2,4- trimethyl-7-t-octyl. |
