PURPOSE:To make centers of a magnetic material and an optical fiber coincident by controlling a drive section so that the luminous quantity from the optical fiber received by a light receiving section is made maximum and machining the magnetic material at the tip of the optical fiber when machining the connector of the optical fiber. CONSTITUTION:A drive section 12 is shifted up and down and to the right and left to detect the maximum light reception quantity. When the tip of an optical fiber 1 is off- centered to a light receiving section 13, the light reception quantity of the light receiving section 13 is small; but when the light quantity from a light source 11 becomes maximum, i.e., when centers of the light receiving section 13 and the optical fiber 1 coincide, a feedback signal is fed to the drive section 12 from a converting section 14 so that the vertical and horizontal drive of the drive section is stopped. The drive section 12 is controlled so as to approach the light receiving section 13, a magnetic material 3 is brought into contact with a rotary cutter 15, and the magnetic material 3 is machined in a desired shape while centers of the optical fiber 1 and the rotary cutter 15 are made coincident. Accordingly, centers of the magnetic material 3 serving as connector and the optical fiber 1 coincide. |
