The sawtooth current generator, for a television receiver's horizontal deflection circuit, produces a sawtooth current whose amplitude can be easily and efficiently modulated. A third capacitor (C1) is connected such that the energy it has stored during a first time interval when a first switch (Tr) was open is returned to the supply via a second switch (Ty1) when the first switched is closed. A third switch (Ty2) is located between a first inductor (L1) and a first flyback capacitor (Cr2) when the first switch is closed.
