PURPOSE:To produce efficiently a polyolefin resin foamed body that is excellent in heat resistance, strength, etc. and whose surface is smooth, by heating and foaming a composition that is prepared by melting and kneading a polymer of an alpha-olefin having 3 or more carbon atoms, an oganic peroxide, an inhibitor, and a foaming agent. CONSTITUTION:A polymer of an alpha-olefin having 3 or more carbon atoms, an organic peroxide, an inhibitor, and a foaming agent are melted and kneaded. The thus obtained composition is heated and foamed. In this case, to obtain a uniform foamed body, preferably the composition should be preheated at a temperature up to the decomposition temperature of the foaming agent. After the heating and foaming, it is cooled to obtain a polyolefin resin foamed body. Since the thus obtained polyolefin resin foamed body is suitably crosslinked, it is excellent in heat resistance, strength, stiffness, hardness, etc., the diameter of the cells is small and the surface thereof is smooth. |
