PURPOSE:To obtain an antitumor serum or plasma exhibiting antitumor activity similar to a lipopolysaccharide at a low dose, and having high safety, by contacting fresh serum or plasma with an insoluble carrier bonded with a lipopolysaccharide originated from the cell wall of a Gram-negative bacteria, and concentrating the product. CONSTITUTION:Fresh serum or plasma is made to contact with an insoluble carrier bonded with a lipopolysaccharide originated from the cell wall of Gram- negative bacteria (abbreviated as lipopolysaccharide), preferably at 25-45 deg.C for 10-180min, and the product is concentrated to obtain the objective antitumor serum or plasma. The concentration is carried out under pressure or atmospheric pressure using a semipermeable membrane having a fractionation molecular weight of 54-20,000. The insoluble carrier bonded with the lipopolysaccharide is preferably the one containing a vinyl polymer as the stem polymer. The obtained agent has comparable antitumor effect to the lipopolysaccharide but does not exhibit lethal effect. Higher antitumor effect can be achieved at a low dose by the concentration procedure. |
