PURPOSE:To reduce driving energy by providing a pressure generation chamber adapted to vibrate together with an electromechanical energy conversion element and a pressure transmission chamber having an boundary wall with the pressure chamber. CONSTITUTION:When a drive pulse voltage is applied to an electrostrictive element D, with the deformation of the electrostrictive element D, the upper wall W1 of a pressure generation chamber SB1 joined thereto deforms and the liquid in the pressure generation chamber SB1 moves to a pressure transmission chamber SB2 through a communicating path L. The movement of the liquid is compensated for by a displacement of the boundary wall W2 with the pressure chamber B thereto B. In this case, it is so arranged that the average displacement L2 of the lower wall W2 of the pressure transmission chamber SB2 is larger than the average displacement L1 of the upper wall W1 of the pressure generation chamber SB1. Thus, even when the displacement caused in the electrostrictive element D is small, the average displacement of the lower wall of the pressure transmission chamber SB2 becomes so large as to enable the jetting of a large amount of ink liquid from a nozzle. |
