PURPOSE:To ensure the boarding and alighting ability and safety, by providing a spring-up device and a lock device for a tilt-bracket. CONSTITUTION:Upon spring-up operation of a steering column during boarding or alighting of a passenger a control lever 89 is rotated clockwise. Then, a lock bar 78 is held between the lock side end face of a lock groove 100 and the cam surface of a lock cam 83, and therefore, a tilt bracket 73 is leaped up to its uppermost position where it is locked. Upon lock releasing operation by which the steering column is returned from the spring up and lock position to its original optimum driving position, the control lever 89 is rotated clockwise as is upon spring-up and lock operation. Then, the lock cam 83 is rotated counterclockwise so that the engagement between the cam surface and the lock lever 78 is released. Since the tilt bracket is locked every time when it is leaped up, even if the vehicle runs with the steering column being left from being returned to its original driving position, the safety is ensured. |
