PURPOSE:To enable the base wall of an oil pan to be located in a relatively high level and to increase the minimum ground height of a car body, by a method wherein a balancer weight is mounted below a cylinder, and the moving area thereof is overlapped with the moving area of the large end of a connecting rod. CONSTITUTION:In case of the device being employed to a series 4-cylinder engine, balancer shafts 40 are rotatably supported with a center positioned in parallel to a crank shaft 30 shown by O-O, and a balancer weight 49 is formed at the intermediate part of each shaft 40. The balancer shaft 40 is rotated through a gear row in linkage with the crank shaft 30, and the shafts 40 are rotated in a reverse direction to each other through the medium of a gear row. The lower end part of a moving area (e) of a large end part 82 of a connecting rod is overlapped with the upper end part of a moving area (f) of the balancer weight 49, and in which case, in order to prevent collapsion of the weight 49 with a large end part 82 in an overlapping area J, a time when the large end part 82 passes the overlapping area J is staggered from a time when the weight 49 passes said overlapping area. |
