PRODUCTION OF MAGNETIC HEAD

PURPOSE:To produce a magnetic head having a narrow gap length with high yield by providing the right and left cores containing a magnetic spacer into a pulverulent body having the average grain size less than the specific value and adhering both cores to each other via said pulverulent body with application of a fixed level of pressure and a rise of temperature to form a magnetic gap. CONSTITUTION:The right and left cores having a magnetic gap spacer is put into a pulverulent body having the average grain size of <=0.5mm.. Both cores are adhered to each other with adhesive glass via the pulverulent body together with application of pressure and a rise of temperature. Thus a magnetic gap is formed. For instance, a mortar 15, i.e., a molded product of alumina Al2O3 is provided together with punches 16 and 17 which apply pressure to inside the mortar 15 to adhere tentatively both cores 10 and 10'. These cores are put into alumina powder 18 having average grain size of 50mum and then pressed by 50kg/ cm<2> to the direction of an arrow 19 by the upper and lower punches 16 and 17. Under such conditions, the heat is applied to both cores from outside to heat them up to 700 deg.C under 50kg/cm<2> pressure applied continuously. Then both cores are cooled. The magnetic cores having a gap thus formed have even accuracy of gap length and secure stable and high yield at all times.
