PURPOSE:To improve the accuracy of track width and to facilitate the work of a magnetic head by forming a groove at the side part of a magnetic core in the tape sliding direction to prescribe the track width and filling a spacer made of a nonmagnetic substance into said groove. CONSTITUTION:Two rod-shaped matters 6 and 6 are made of a metallic magnetic substance such as ''Sendust'', etc. A window 5 is formed to one of matters 6, and both matters 6 are processed into a prescribed shape respectively. These processed matters 6 are adhered to each other by a glass welding process to obtain a block 7. In this case, the junction surface of both matters are opposed to each other with microgaps in-between. The fused glass is flowed into these gaps to form a head gap 2. Then many grooves 13 are formed by crossing the gap 2 with rubstones, etc. These grooves 13 divides the gap 2 with prescribed track width (t). In this case, the groove 13 can be processed with blocks 7 and rubstones positioned mechanically. Therefore the track width (t) can be contuolled to have extremely high accuracy of about + or -3mum. |
