<p>PURPOSE:To cause efficient methane fermentation of org. acids by generated bacteria by drawing the digested sludge out of the digestion chamber on the outflow side and returning intermittently the drawn-out sludge to the digestion chamber on the inflow side after a specified period when the return is stopped. CONSTITUTION:Raw sludge 3 is charged into a digestion chamber 2 on the inflow side and as the sludge 3 is charged into said chamber, the treated liquid 4 in each chamber 2 overflows successively from said chamber 2 on the inflow side to the chamber 2 on the outflow side. The digested sludge 5 and eluate 6 are drawn out of the chamber 2 at the rear end on the outflow side. The sludge 5 is returned by a return pump 7 to the chamber 2 at the above-described front end. The return of the sludge 5 is accomplished intermittently; for example, the sludge is quickly returned for a specified time after a specified period when the return is stopped. At least 10 days are required for the period when the return is stopped.</p> |
