The invention relates to prefabricated rectangular panels for the external decoration, protection and thermal insulation of the walls of a building. The aim of the invention is to provide panels which can be installed, at will, with the long side vertical or horizontal on a single wall. To achieve this, the assembly comprises panels of at least two types, panels of the first type 1 have small sides 3, 5 each having a cross-section identical to that of the long side 4, 6 which follows it in the clockwise direction, and the others have the opposite configuration.
