PURPOSE:To alleviate load at the time of moving a thermal head and prevent a ribbon from being damaged, by a method wherein both right and left corner parts on the heating part supporting surface side of a heating part support of a thermal head supported on the support are shaped to be arcuate surfaces. CONSTITUTION:The thermal head is constituted of the support 4, a heating part supporting recess 6, and the arcuate surfaces 7, 8 provided at the right and left corner parts. The thermal head interferes little with a platen 1 when being moved rightward or leftward, so that load at the time of the movement can be alleviated, and since the head functions also as a guide part for smoothly guiding an ink robbon 3 when supplying and taking up the ribbon 3, the ribbon 3 can be prevented from being damaged. Particularly in the case of an ink ribbon enclosed in a cartridge, the ribbon is wound around the corner parts of the support 4 at acute angles, so that it is particularly important to smoothen the guide at these parts. |
