A telescopic runner comprising a fixed outer section 2, an intermediate section 3 and an inner section 4 includes a latch plate 5 pivotally carried on a pin 6 by the intermediate section 3 and serving to lock the sections 2-4 in an extended position, the latch 5 having a nose 10 for engaging either the trailing end of the inner section 4 or one of a plurality of spaced recesses in the upper surface of the inner section 4, and the outer section 2 carrying a laterally projecting pin 12 which engages a slot 11 in the latch 5, the slot 11 having an upturned end 13 which ensures that end loading of the inner section 4 increases the locking action. The latch 5 includes a finger grip 9 for effecting its manual release, a top flange 8 which bears on the top of the outer section 2 to pivot the latch 5 from its locked position and a pressed out lug 19 providing a step to limit pivoting of the latch 5 away from its locked position. A spring 14 located in a recess 15 in the intermediate section 3 engages a press out latch lug 18 to bias the latch 5 to a locked position. A plate 22 on the inner section 4 prevents lateral displacement of the nose 14. |
