2-cyanoacrylic acid esters of formula (I) are new (where R1 is Me, CF3, Cl or Br; R2 is Cl,Br,I or methylsulphonyl; R3 is H,Cl or Br, or R3 is 5-MeO, in which case R1 and R2 are Cl and R2 is H if R3 is 3-Cl; R4 is 1-3C alkyl, allyl or propargyl). (I) are strong and selective herbicides. Specifically claimed cpds. (I) are 2'-(2,4,6-trichlorophenyl)-hydrazino -2-cyanoacrylic acid methyl ester (Ia) and 2'-(2,4-dichlorophenyl) hydrazino-2-cyano-acrylic acid methyl ester. |
