<p>Cpds. of formula (I) are prepd. by reacting carbodiimides of formula R-N:C:N-R' (where R and R' are opt. substd. 1-3C alkyl, pref. CH2CH2R", where R" is alkoxy, alkylthio, heterocyclylmethyl or acylamino). The intermediate N-methyl N'-(2-(5-dimethylaminomethyl 2-furfurylthio)ethyl) carbodiimide (IIa) is new. - The process is esp. useful for preparing 2-(2-(5-dimethylaminomethyl 2-furfurylthio) ethylamino) 2-methylamino 1-nitroethylene (Ia), which is an anti-ulcer agent (ranitidine). The reaction is pref. effected at between room temp. and reflux temp. in the presence of a strong base and in inert solvent under a stream of inert gas. (0/0)</p> |
