PURPOSE:To extend the area of extracted picture elements without incrasing the number of circuit elements to perform contour emphasizing correction most suitable for an original picture, by thinning regularly picture elements in the main scanning direction and the subscanning direction to extract picture elements. CONSTITUTION:In a storage circuit group 1, 8-bit picture element data D supplied to seven storage circuits are written in scanning line units one every other scanning line and are outputted to data busses M0-M6. A scanning line data distributing circuit 2 switches successively these busses M0-M6 in accordance with write/read switching signals WR0-WR6 to switch data busses so that n-number of data D corresponding to individual scanning lines are always outputted to data busses L0-L6 in the write order of scanning lines. An average value circuit 3 extracts prescribed picture element data from data D and adds extracted picture element data to obain the average value and outputs it as correction data B and outputs noticed picture element data A. An contour emphasizing circuit 4 performs a prescribed operation on a basis of data A and B and outputs correction picture element data E. Thus, the area of extracted picture elements is extended to perform outline emphasizing correction most suitable for the original picture. |
