Process for the production of a gas burner, in which the gas flows out of a plurality of openings arranged in parallel rows and present in individual segments provided with a gas supply pipe, individual sections being provided with a row of openings and being folded along this row into the burner segments. The sections (8) have on both sides, near the row of the openings (3), a raised region with in each case a large opening which, after the folding, forms a part of the gas supply pipe (2) and has a projecting edge (5) which is deformed when the segments are jointed together to a fold connection. A gas burner produced according to this process, in which adjacent segments are connected together by foldings with the formation of a common gas supply pipe, and the openings for letting out the gas have an oval shape, the longer axis of which is perpendicular to the long axis of the individual segment, and in operation a plane of flame or carpet of flame is thus formed above the burner. <IMAGE>
