To allow easy adaptation to the requirement for a variety of connecting rod lengths, the shank (1) of a built-up connecting rod consists of a tie rod (2), which is hooked by means of a foot (3) into a bearing boss (4) for the crankshaft, and of a support (5) which is made of light material and accommodates the tie rod (2) in a hole (6); this support is clamped between the piston bearing part (9) and the bearing boss (4) by screwing the piston bearing part onto that end of the tie rod (2) which faces away from the bearing boss (4). <IMAGE>
