PURPOSE:To form a uniform aluminum film by heat treatment at a relatively low temp., by treating a carbon material, of which the surface is subjected to oxidation treatment, with a transition metal salt solution and bringing the treated carbon material into contact with an organoaluminum compound to decompose said organoaluminum compound. CONSTITUTION:A carbon material is treated with, for example, a sulfuric acid acidified potassium bichromate solution to perform oxidation treatment. In the next step, the oxidized carbon fiber is treated with a solution of a transition metal salt, for example, a salt of Cu, Ni, Ti, Pd or Fe. This carbon material is brought into contact with an organoaluminum compound and heated to 200- 250 deg.C to thermally decompose said compound while the surface of the carbon material is coated with aluminium generated by thermal decomposition. As the organoaluminum compound, triethylaluminum, diethylaluminium halide or tripropylaluminum are used. |
