Improvements in liquid chromatography.

An improved method of analyzing a sample material by liquid chromatography is described in which a sample is dissolved in a carrier fluid to form a mobile phase which is then passed through a chromatography column. In one aspect of the invention the carrier fluid is electrochemically screened to selectively remove electroactive materials therein prior to injecting the sample material into the carrier fluid. In another aspect of the invention the mobile phase is electrochemically treated prior to passing the mobile phase through the chromatography column to change chromatographic characteristics of selective materials in the mobile phase.
