In a process for producing coverings which adhere to surfaces but which can be pulled off once again, a treatment liquid of thermoplastically processible polyurethane elastomers is prepared by adding and admixing a solvent. This treatment liquid, which can be highly fluid or viscous depending on the mixing ratio, is applied to the surface and forms, after the solvent has evaporated, a covering which adheres securely to the surface but which, as required, can be pulled off in one piece. Even when present in such a slight thickness as a film, this covering is very resistant to tearing and is elastic and flexible. It possesses an absolutely impervious surface such that it forms a secure protection against mechanical influence and other influences. The preferred areas of use are the renovation and repair of car tyres, with the rubber sleeve which is otherwise required being replaced by the covering. The covering can also be used for protecting the roughened surface of a previously produced rubber tread for renovating car tyres against oxidation and mechanical influence. |
