Catalytic gaseous reactions are carried out in a multiphase system, in which a gas is reacted in the presence of a solid catalyst suspended in an aqueous medium by introducing the aqueous suspension contg. the catalyst from a tube into a gas compartment, into which the gas or mixture of gases is charged, and then passing the gas, or mixture of gases, with the suspension through a mixing zone, to a separting device in which the gas or mixture of gases is separated from the suspension. The method is esp. suitable for the preparation of hydroxylamine sulphate and provides higher yields of this cmpd. and reduced formation of by-products, such as ammonium sulphate. The mixing and reaction proceed rapidly in relatively simple apparatus.
|
