Process for printing an image on a carrier with a thermoplastic printing ink on the basis of butylmethacrylate (BMA) with a photoinitiator as an additive, wherein the printing ink composition comprises per 10 ml BMA 2 to 10 ml ethylene glycol-di-methacrylate (EGDMA) and 1.0 to 1.4 g benzoin methylether (BME) or comprises alternatively per 1.0 ml BMA 2 to 4 ml ethylene glycol-di-methylacrylate (EGDMA), 1.0 to 8.2 g N-vinylcarbazole (NVC) and 0.7 to 1.0 g benzoin methylether (BME), both in order to apply a hall-mark photographically onto a paper carrier. Printed matter produced with such a process.
