A gulley funnel (4) with an annular shut-off valve (8) fitted at the bottom is braced in a street gulley with the aid of a sealed adaptor plate (1). A driver pin (15) on the valve disc (14) permits the annular shut-off valve (8) to be operated from outside through the street-gulley grate (9). In this manner, street gulleys can be retrofitted with an easily controllable, inexpensive shut-off member. <IMAGE>
