A signal erasing device is specified, used to erase continuously recorded signals on a multiplicity of chosen recorded tracks on a rotatable recording carrier, on which signals can be recorded on a multiplicity of circular recording tracks. The device has a signal erasing device with an erase head, an adjusting device for adjusting the erase head to an opposite position with respect to each of the recording tracks of the recording carrier, a rotating device for rotating the recording carrier with respect to the erase head, a selecting device for preselecting a multiplicity of certain recording tracks on which the signal is to be erased on the recording carrier, and a control device, which controls the signal erasing device and the head adjusting device in accordance with the selecting device in such a way that they are used to erase successively on the recording carrier the signals recorded on the chosen recording tracks.
