It is known in a toothed-wheel change-speed gear to couple straight internally toothed loose wheels to a sliding sleeve with convex external toothing. The sliding sleeve is connected with sliding-fit tolerance to a shaft. It is shifted by way of a shift linkage. Bending of the shaft, bearing play in the loose wheels, skewing of the sliding sleeve and axial forces due to bending vibrations, axial vibrations and torsional vibrations can push the sliding sleeve out of its coupling position. This is now prevented by the fact that a sliding sleeve 15 with a convex asymmetric external toothing 19 is provided which interacts with an approximately conical internal toothing 23 on the loose wheel 6. In the coupling position, the two interengaging toothings 19, 23 can adjust themselves freely. Axial forces pull the toothings 19, 23 into one another. Tilting is not possible. Skewing of the gearwheel 6 due to bending of the shaft 8 or to bearing play LS have no effect on the respective coupling position of the sliding sleeve 15.
