The invention relates to a method for pouring bulk material into a bag, which has a filling slot in a side wall in the region of one of its ends, the bag, which has been pushed, with an open filling slot, onto a filling piece, being held during pouring between clamps which clamp the sections of the side walls between one another and between one another and the filling piece. The invention also relates to a device for implementing the method. In order to permit exact positioning of the bag at any time, the bag, which is located on a stack or a roll, is to be gripped on both sides in line with the filling slot, moved towards the filling piece and, once the filling slot has first been opened, pushed onto the filling piece and clamped there. When pouring has been completed and the clamping has been released, the bag is held in line with the filling slot and transported further.
