The device has, in a known way, a collet with a longitudinally notched (2) conical outer surface so that the workpiece to be gripped can be held elastically. It also has a ring (10) which is separated from the conical part by an annular groove (3). The surface (4) against which the ring nut (6) presses is perpendicular to the axis of the collet. In this way, the collet (1) is perfectly concentric to the collet holder (7) of said device, this concentricity being particularly advantageous when machining workpieces having a diameter starting at 0.3 millimetres. <IMAGE>
