In a tractor-drawn soil tilling machine having a machine frame which is transverse to the direction of travel, soil tilling tools which are situated alongside one another in a row, can be driven by the tractor power take-off shaft and in particular rotate about vertical axes, and two side shields each movably attached to one end of the machine frame by means of a parallel linkage which comprises two parallel guide rods, there is a danger of self-blocking of the shield and/or of the parallel linkage. According to the invention, this danger of self-blocking is eliminated if the parallel linkage includes a third connecting rod, which is articulated by one end to the machine frame and by its other end to the side shield, the points of articulation of the three parallel connecting rods on the machine frame forming the corners of a triangle, preferably a right-angled triangle.
