PURPOSE:To provide a styrene resin composition having low first discoloration and resistant to the lowering of the thermal stability caused by the addition of a halogen-containing flame-retardant, by adding a carboxylic acid aluminum salt to the styrene resin. CONSTITUTION:A styrene resin composition containing 5-35pts.(wt.) of a halogen-containing flame-retardant based on 100pts. of the resin, is compounded with 1-20pts., based on 100pts. of the flame-retardant, of a carboxylic acid aluminum salt. The effect can be remarkably improved by adding a boron compound obtained by esterifying a polyhydric alcohol with at least one fatty acid and at least one boric acid, in addition to the above additive. The carboxylic acid residue of the carboxylic acid aluminum salt is preferably the monoester residue, etc. of lauric acid or maleic acid. The ratio of the carboxylic acid salt to the boron compound is 9:1-1:9, preferably 4:6-8:2, and the sum of the carboxylic acid salt and the boron compound is 1-20pts. based on 100pts. of the resin. |
