The method is based on the principle that a certain absorption range is subdivided into a number, for example 10, of equal steps and a number of samples are prepared whose light absorption is determined. This can be done by using a photometer which indicates the measured absorption digitally in the form of an individual number (0 .... 9), specifically in accordance with the step at which the absorption measured in this way occurs. A dilution series may, for example, comprise eight samples which have increasing dilution ratios. The result obtained may then have the following form: Sample series 1 9 9 8 6 3 2 2 2 Sample series 2 9 9 9 9 7 3 2 2 etc. In the sample series 1, the absorption starts to decrease at the third sample, whereas in the sample series 2 this does not occur until the fifth sample. <IMAGE>
