A method for automatically detecting the temperature dependency of measuring signals, which method allows the user to carry out exact temperature compensation without any computing work and without further involvement in the measuring process. A temperature sensor detects the associated measuring signals of the dependent measurement variable, in a dynamic process at predetermined temperatures, after a starting and a final temperature have been defined before the start of the process. A higher-order function is calculated from the pairs of temperature/measurement variable values completely automatically, which function is then available for temperature compensation of the sensor signal in the subsequent measurement process.
