The shunted 3 and shunting 2 branches, of a printed resistor have resistances such that the ratio of the step of change of the resistor, obtained by cutting a shunting branch of an adjusting section, to the nearest greater value of the step of change of the resistor, obtained by cutting a shunting branch of another adjusting section, is approximately equal to one half of the ratio of the maximum permissible value of any one of the steps to the required value of such step. The adjusting sections may be identified according to the maximum permissible value of the steps of change on cutting out the shunting branches, or may be identified by making them of different shapes. This system allows accurate adjustment of the value of the resistor, using a minimum number of adjusting sections, and reduces wastage of the resistors. |
