Bag turning unit (1) with a suction connecting piece (4) to receive the bag (3) which is to be turned via a suction connecting piece collar (14) and adjoins the unit (1), with a fan chamber (8) having a fan (9) to generate subatmospheric pressure in the suction connecting piece (4), with a filter chamber (5) between the suction connecting piece (4) and the fan (9), with a bag turning valve (10) to produce the connection between the suction connecting piece (4) and the filter chamber (5) while the turning process is being carried out, with an air outlet opening (9) for the filtered outgoing air, and with an air inlet channel (11) which is provided with air inlet openings (12) and which leads to the filter chamber (5) via an air feed valve (10 in a second position) which is open during the blocking period of the bag turning valve (10 in a first position).
