Plastics tap is mounted on a paperborad container coated with thermoplastics, e.g. for milk, by heating an area of the container and the faucet end and pressing the faucet against the container. The appts. pref. includes retainers for faucet and container, heating elements for each, and a mechanism for moving the retainers together. The elements are pref. on opposite sides of a body which can be placed between faucet and container and which has projecting contacts which maintain a given spacing between heater and container. The heater is pref. annular. The method improves the easy-opening characteristic and maintains sealing after the container has been operated.
