A coupling between the top of a gas bottle 1 &c. and a flexible pipe connected to an outlet 12 comprises a spindle 25 rotated by a knob 17 and having an eccentric 27 which, with the spindle positioned as shown, wedges a lever 19 upwards so that its hooked end 20 engages in a groove 2 around the bottle neck &c. to hold the coupling in place, the spindle 27 also having a cam 9 which as shown is positioned to push a stem 7 downwards against spring bias and open a valve (not shown) within the bottle &c., thereby connected to the outlet 12. The rear face 23 of the lever 19 slides over a replaceable wear piece 21. On turning the knob 17 through 180 degrees, the hooked end 20 of the lever 19 is moved into a slot 24 in the wear piece 21 by the eccentric 27, and the stem 7 is released by the cam 9 to close the valve. A filter 13 is provided in the outlet 12. A stop 18 limits rotation of the knob 17 &c.</p> |
