PURPOSE:To detect a closed loop graphic form in a short time by analyzing connection components of the background part of a binary image and detecting a basic closed loop which meets desired requirements from the analytic result. CONSTITUTION:A raster scan on a screen where a closed loop is present is made, the obtained electric signal is converted by a binary coding circuit 1 into a binary signal, and a line thinning circuit 2 obtains a desired thin-line image. A feature image is then obtained by a calculating circuit 3 for the number of connections and an expanding circuit 4 for the number of connections. A connection component analyzing circuit 5 analyzes connection components of the background part of the feature image to measure the amount of features, e.g. the area and the number of connection lines at the part encircled with the closed loop in this case, and thus detects the desired closed loop from the result. |
