SNAP IN COMMUNICATIONS JACK AND COVER PLATE ASSEMBLY A communications jack and cover plate assembly includes a cover plate, a jack body, and a spring block. The cover plate includes a plate member and a pair of parallel resilient wall portions extending perpendicularly outwardly from said plate member. A cover plate jack opening is provided through the plate member between the wall portions. Each cover plate wall portion has an integral lug extending outwardly therefrom in direction toward the jack opening. The jack body is provided with a jack body jack opening and is partially defined by a pair of parallel jack body side wall portions each having integral ridges extending outwardly therefrom. The side wall portions of the jack body fit between the wall portions of the cover plate with the lugs and ridges being in interfering relationship with each other. By forcing the jack body toward the plate member, the resilient wall portions allow the lugs to pass over the ridges to lock them and the jack body in fixed relationship with respect to the cover plate. The spring block includes a plurality of spring electrical contact wires extending upwardly and rearwardly from the spring block. A flange extends downwardly from the spring block. The jack body is provided with a spring block receptacle and a ramp bar at the bottom thereof. The spring block is slid into the receptacle causing the spring wires to be compressed as the flange ramps up to pass over the ramp bar. The spring wires then force the block and flange down behind the ramp locking the block in place.
