摘要 |
PURPOSE:To measure the amount of silicon in a molten metal simply and quickly with an electromotive force by interposing between a molten metal and silicon standard polar substance a silicate electrolyte to which a specified amount of fluoride to silicate containing a more than specified value of SiO2. CONSTITUTION:A silicate electrolyte 6 is retained at the internal lower end of a retaining tube 5 and a standard polar substance 7 is loaded into the upper portion thereof while a lead 3a is buried into a layer loaded with the standard polar substance 7. The silicate electrolyte 6 is subject to adding a fluoride such as CaF2 to a silicate of CaO-SiO2-Al2O3 or CaO-SiO2-MgO system containing more than 50% of CiO2 at a rate of less than 10% for F. When the lower end of a measuring probe 1 is immersed into a molten iron, the silicate electrolyte 6 and the standard polar substance 7 melt to form a silicate concentration cell between the standard polar substance 7 and the molten iron, and an electromotive force is generated between contacts A and B of leads 3a and 3b. This forms the silicate concentration cell very quickly to improve the accuracy with a higher stability of the electromotive force. |
