摘要 PURPOSE:To increase compression ratio at the time of low loading to increase combustion efficiency while obtain a condition of good combustion by providing a volume controlling piston, which is projected into a combustion chamber at the time of low loading to control the flow of a fuel-air mixture. CONSTITUTION:At the time of high loading, a volume controlling piston 21 is retracted, to increase the volume of a combustion chamber 5, reducing the compression ratio to prevent knocking while causing weak swirling to increase a filling efficiency and the output. At the time of low loading, a step motor 30 is rotated by means of a control circuit 32, to make a piston 21 project out, against a spring 25, through an interlocking cam 28 and a piston responsive cam 26. Thereby, the compression ratio is increased improving combustion efficiency, while swirling is generated which is led to an exhaust port 14 passing through a spark plug, and the bottom face 24 of a piston 21 functions to form squish, carrying out the mixing of a fuel-air mixture sufficiently and, thereby, greatly improving the condition of combustion.
