In an hydrodynamic torque converter or coupling, the vaned elements, e.g. pump 2, are formed from a sheet metal outer shell 5 and a similar inner core 13, radial sheet metal blades 14 being provided with tabs 35-37 engaging in corresponding slots or recesses 32-34 in the outer shell, and tabs 38, 39 engaging in slots 40, 41 in the inner core, the inner recesses 34 at least have a radially inner width less than or equal to the width of tabs 37, and a radially outer width greater than the tabs 37 so that the tabs and slot sides are deformed on insertion to retain the blades in position, the tabs 38, 39 being bent or rolled to retain the pump assembled. In Fig. 1, (not shown), the turbine (3) of an hydrodynamic converter (1) is formed with slots rather than recesses in its outer shell. The pump 2 also drives a gear pump (31) directly via a shaft 10. |
