<p>PURPOSE:To enable to negotiate comfortably even a soft terrain such as fresh snow by sloping a caterpillar upward against the surface of snow and the like at front parts of both a backing plate and a rail. CONSTITUTION:Under a backing plate 12 a rail 15 for a caterpillar is attached. The backing plate 12 can move both longitudinally and vertically due to both rotary movement of a plate 7 and elastic effect of a relief spring 10. The first freewheel 17 is rotatably attached at the front end of a frame 5 while the second freewheel 18 is rotatably attached at the rear end of the backing plate 12. A sprocket 20 attached on a drive shaft drives the caterpillar. Both the backing plate 12 and the rail 15 are bent from the middle upward toward the front by an angle theta.</p> |
