PURPOSE:To improve starting performance by incorporating a lighting tube and a glow starter which serves to start the lighting tube and specifying distances from the center of light to the end of glow starter and from the sealing end of outer tube to the end of glow starter. CONSTITUTION:A lighting tube 1 and a glow starter 19 which serves to start the lighting tube are incorporated in an outer tube 25 in which inactive gas is sealed and which has a base 26 in its end. The glow starter 19 fixed to the side of the base 26. When the distance from the center of light to the lower end of glow starter 19 is Lmm. and rated lamp power is Wwatt, L is specified as L>=-1.1X 10<-4>W+0.24W+20, and distance lmm. from the sealing end of outer tube to the upper end of flow starter is specified as l>=30. Increase of closed circuit voltage of glow starter 9 caused by heat conduction such as radiation heat from the lighting tube 1 and convection is suppressed, and steady starting voltage is obtained. |
