<p>The flare includes an array of horizontal branch pipes communicating with a waste gas supply main and located underground within an area enclosed by a wall. Each branch pipe supplies gas to a respective set of standpipes carrying burner nozzles above ground, and is located in a channel covered by overlapping metal plates through which the standpipes extend and which are movable relative to each other to accommodate expansion and contraction of the pipes. Can accommodate wide variations in the quantity of gas to be burned since the branch pipes can be selectively connected to the supply main according to the gas flow rate in the main.</p> |
